The Brawl takes its name whence it gets its tunes - Southern barrelhouses of the last millennium. Poor in furnishings, rich in spirits, these often violent dance halls employed cast-off barrels as chairs, tables, and, when necessary, temporary coffins. The institutions may be gone, but their music lives on!

The band began this millennium at the City Blues cafe in Dupont Circle, Washington DC. We have had extended stays at the Park Cafe on Capitol Hill and the Sputnik Cafe in Crownsville Maryland, and are a fixture in the DC festival scene. We are a high-energy outfit that kicks out the jams and loves to pack dance floors. Meet us in the players section.
